so, today...there was a surprise in my mailbox. there was a key. not to a corvette or a house... but to the bigger mailbox, which holds "packages". dewey had been rather persistently asking me if i'd checked my POST - since monday. so, obviously... i knew she'd sent me something! and i've been eagerly anticipating this "post" since then.
i reached into the mailbox and picked out this large red flashy box with "royal mail" stamped on it. dunno about you, but i have never got "royal mail" before! heck, i barely ever get ANYthing addressed to me other than flying miles statements!
so i rushed back home with the huge box, cut it open... and dropped all the straw on the carpet *yeah, i know*... and out came this gorge box..
at first glance, i thought the mad child had sent me ice cream!!! it sure looked like a yum ice cream tub with the awesomest li'l kitties on it... and she HAS been talking of sending me cheesecake... the box also had a sticker which said "NOT a TOY"; i quickly removed the sticker and trashed it along with the straw.
once i'd done that, i opened it, rather carefully wondering if this was ice-cream or cheesecake or jewelery...
and out came a kitty mug with a delightful red tassel!!
and it's filled with cookies! :D i HAVE promised to save at least one cookie for vin... as per her instructions. but we shall see.
and now, while the bitch watches wolverine, i sit here alone and miss her! how i'd have LOVED it if she'd hand-delivered this! i solemnly swear that i will not ever let anyone else even touch this mug! other than you - when u come over! do make that soon.
now let me go clean the carpet and drink coffee in my new mug! ^_^
i'm DAMN kicked!why? coz last week has been really really nice to me. a. my bro'll be flying international from aug end. to the US! that means, he can visit me sometime. also, mom gets free tickets! YAY! b. solitaire will be shifting to nearby big city. i am SO kicked abt that! i'll finally have a friend within weekend-driving distance :) c. MILs coming down a tad sooner. yeah, that's reason to be happy. for vin, her and me.and last and most important of all...d. galadriel's visiting me!! YIPPPPIIIEEE!!!! and sweetheart that she is, she's decided to stay on till my happy budday!! to ensure that it's really happy! :) she FINALLY got her tickets last week. and since then, every time i think of meeting her, i have this BROAD grin on my face. seriously, i am SO looking forward to meeting her! she's actually one of the closest pals i have here... and there's JUST a week more till she'll actually be here!!!! YAY!
did i mention, she'll be the first blog-pal whom i'd be meeting. gosh! now i'm feeling nervous.
and of course, we saw wall-e last night. and it turned out to be everything and more than what i'd expected. so there.. another reason to have a kick-ass weekend! all good with y'all...?
i have nothing new to write, so flicked this tag from I2W, here. so, here's a list of d simple things in my daily life that make me feel happy... and in case u're still thinking of the title... well, am Keeping It Simple, Stupid!
- getting mails - and i mean mails, not one-liners - from very close frenz.- logging in to find minal and/or suruchi online. and available for chat.- cheesecake.- going to bed knowing that i don't have to wake up early the next morning.- that wonderful mix of a little bit of sunshine interspersed with a little bit of rain. - going on an impromptu drive along the countryside.- going through old photographs *physical or digital*- parle G with coffee.- breakfast in bed.- knowing that u have friends that u can wake up even in d middle of the night "just because" u felt like talking to them. - spending half a day bitching online with frenz and then not having to worry abt cooking for the day coz u can always order in! - that 'moment' when u just look at ur partner and feel "i must have done something right for him to be with me"...- being told u look good even though u're still in d PJs u wore to bed last night.- going out random shopping and finding JUST what u thought u wanted! - being given flowers. just like that! - a good conversation with someone who listens to what u mean, not what u say. *and knows u well enuf to not be presumptuous!*- logging in to see lots of comments on a blog piece! :) - catching up with dotcomrades; either via mail, chat or blogs- people paying you the money they owe u without u having to "follow up" for it. *i am so optimistic!*- finding dollar bills in d denim pockets that u're about to drop in the laundry basket! - coming across a friendly kitten on a random walk.- being able to discuss personal 5-year plans and realizing that both of u actually want the same things! - as i said earlier, reading a 'good forecast' in a monthly horoscope.
the smell of new books always manages to make me feel happier. fresher. it's something i can't explain, but no matter what book it is, as long as it's new, it has that distinctive smell which acts like a caffeine boost for me. i remember so many afternoons that i've spent at crossword... smelling most books before i settled into a corner with a calvin & hobbes or some "indian author - fiction" book. *WHY are books categorized??* after spending almost a quarter of my monthly income in books *the other quarter went towards food & shopping, while half went towards commute!*, i've often been asked *by my parents & now, V* why i can't buy pirated or second hand books? well, i can't buy pirated books. i have ethical and qualitative issues with that. *i DO download movies & music off d net, tho!* so, it's only where books are concerned that i actually steer clear of piracy! also, the quality of pirated books is really sad *at least all that i've seen with frenz or peers* and sometimes, i've seen the print fade away in a few months time. i'd DIE if that happened to any of my books!as far as buying second hand books is concerned - i believe that MY books have MY perspective attached to them. *i believe this is true for all my possessions* and buying a book which someone else has owned prior to me, will make ME read the book with THAT person's perspective. i know that defies any & all logic. but well, i believe it. and my belief is far stronger than any logic! so it just has to be new books for me. there was a bookmark i owned which sed "wear the old coat but buy the new book" somehow, that bookmark was SO me!how & why was i thinking of this now? well, i woke up feeling rather dull... and this feeling threatened to morph into depression on seeing the neighbour shifting out with her cat. that's when i opened a book *d inheritance of loss, if any1s interested* and smelled the pages. there! now i'm feeling all fresh, happy and alive! i haven't read the book yet. i have harry potter 7 *e-book; thanks, suruchi!* and my GRE and a prospective prof's book to read before i get down to it! but, for now, sniffing it shud serve me just as fine.
